Too often, we under estimate the power of a smile, a loving touch, a helping hand, a kind word, a listening ear or a simple act of kindness.  Simply caring about God’s people, no matter how big or small, could be just what someone needs to give them hope.

The Center of Hope is a shelter for homeless women and children.  The purpose of this shelter is to provide a place of residence for up to 234 homeless women and their children, while assisting them in rebuilding their lives on a solid foundation which can never be shaken. Residents receive meals, clothes, showers, lodging, and spiritual encouragement. Women have the opportunity to join the Discipleship program, where they can receive one-on-one guidance, work experience, Bible study, computer classes and transitional housing. The staff is greatly aided by many volunteers who assist in ministering to the homeless population served by the Center of Hope.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Center of Hope, Dallas is to provide a Gospel Mission in Dallas County which ministers to the spiritual and physical needs of the homeless and needy women and their children while leading them to a saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and restoring them to a stable productive life.

Vision Statement:
"All power is given unto ME in heaven and in earth, go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you: and lo I am with you always, even unto the end of the world" (Matthew 28:18-19).
We walk with the risen Christ, we witness His mighty power, we work to reach the lost and teach the infallible word of God and watch lives be transformed and conformed to the image of Jesus Christ.

Women Called by God have been blessed with the opportunity to help our sisters and their children, at the Center of Hope, every fourth Saturday, of each month, in 2010, by serving dinner from
5:00-6:30 pm.  To learn more about the weekly opportunities to serve, please contact Mr. Paul Galahidy, at Union Gospel Mission, at 214-630-7960.

We have become accustomed to putting our efforts and time into something where we can see the rewards.  The rewards far outweigh any gift that you can see.   The reward is being able to help others who are less fortunate than you and the gratitude that is shown.

It is not only about what their needs are but, what we can do, to help them accomplish their needs.  “I loved the time that we have to fellowship, witness, talk and serve meals to the women and their children.”

Deuteronomy 15: 11: "It seems that there will always be someone in need .  For the poor will never cease in the land; therefore I command you, saying,  You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to your poor and needy, in your land."

We are God’s hands, eyes and ears.   Serving,  at the Center of Hope, has been a great opportunity to enrich women’s lives, by feeding their spiritual, physical and material needs and spread the good news of Jesus Christ.     Even though we are serving, we are receiving a blessing every time.”

The Center of Hope is a place to enter and to seek shelter from the storm, for some women.  For others, it’s a place to stay, to live, to become a healthy member of society with a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ.

Serving at the Center of Hope and beyond allows Jesus to work through you to touch the lives of our sisters and their children.
Showing God’s love simply says that someone cares.

Ephesians 2:10: We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.  Being used by God is one of the greatest blessings that we will experience in our lives.

It’s simple.   Surrender your heart to serving God and His people, at the Center of Hope and beyond.

Continued Blessings,

Sis. Dennette Wright
